A Safe Student Sport

Archery boasts one of the longest histories of any sport and maintains statistics as one of the safest sports. Today it is gaining support in school systems because of its gender neutrality and potential for success regardless of physical ability. Archery is also popular among home schooling groups because it satisfies the state physical education requirements and can be done almost anywhere that a safe temporary range can be set up.

In recent years, two programs have been successful in reaching youth through the public school systems: the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) and Easton’s Olympic Archery in Schools Program (OAS). Now more high quality resources than ever are at the disposal of those wishing to start an archery program in their schools. Through these efforts, thousands of students every year are discovering the joys of archery.
