A DEEP APPRECIATION

The Easton Sports Development Foundation boasts ownership of the world's most comprehensive archery library, generously donated by John Garrett of Costa Mesa, California. This extensive collection comprises thousands of rare and contemporary books, magazines, articles, and periodicals, authored by notable figures synonymous with the history of archery.
John Garrett initiated his archery book collection in his early 20s with the aim of learning how to craft his own equipment. As his fascination with the historical aspects of archery deepened, so did the size of his library, along with his connections with fellow archery historians such as J.T. Thomas, Clement Parker, Willard Bishop, Howard Bobbs, Bob Rhode, and many others. Over time, Garrett corresponded with archery enthusiasts worldwide, enabling him to acquire several out-of-print first editions, including Roger Ascham’s “Toxophilus,” Ralph Payne Gallway's "The Crossbow," Maurice Thompson's "The Witchery of Archery," and numerous other captivating books.
Recognizing the value of sharing his collection with fellow archers, Mr. Garrett sought an ideal location for its permanent home. The Easton Sports Development Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of archery through initiatives like building ranges and creating instructional programs, met all his criteria. The Foundation actively welcomes and appreciates material donations related to archery and bowhunting.
Furthermore, the Easton Sports Development Foundation extends its gratitude to the following contributors for their valuable contributions to the library:
