The Nebraska Outdoor Education Center is Nebraska’s premier shooting sports development facility. The center includes a 32 lane 27 meter indoor archery range, and 10 lane, 25 yard firearms range and three modular classrooms. The outdoor facility hosts an archery field range, American Target range with both yardage and meters targets, a National Wild Turkey Federation youth 3D range, an outdoor cooking education area and a tomahawk range.
The Nebraska Outdoor Education Center offers many opportunities for beginners through advanced archers. New participants will find introductory programs such as Explore Archery and general shooting programs. Junior Olympic Archery Development has expanded to several teams per week along with a Center Shot archery program for those looking for advancement from JOAD. The archery range is available for shooters ages six through adult. The archery programs provide fun and enjoyable skill based learning under the direction of Level 3 and Level 4 archery coaches.

The indoor archery range boasts a 14,000 square foot facility with 32 lanes to 27 meters. The range has 16 targets along with nearly 40 3D targets. The range has automatic timers on the ceiling with alarms for tournaments. All targets are on wheels and are easily set to shoot at various distances. The facility offers a host of compound and recurve bows and associated tackle for rental to general public or program participants. Three 30’ x 30’ classrooms are located directly behind the archery range with removable partition walls, allowing the length of the range to expand an additional 30 feet for special programs. All aspects of the indoor facility are climate controlled and inviting to all stages of shooters.
The 14,000 square foot range and 2,700 square feet of classroom space are available for open shooting, programs and group rentals. Adjacent to the north classroom exists a small kitchen area. The back wall of the range is protected by Shield arrow walls which allows for an additional 1,000 square feet of storage. Each of the three classrooms house multimedia capabilities, flat screen monitors, adjustable lighting and seating for 50 students with tables and chairs. The archery range also has a camera and video screen area for teaching archers proper form.
The field range consists of 21 targets to 80 yards, complete with benches and bow holders. The field course maneuvers through a unique woodland area providing for shots of varying distances, challenges and elevations. This range is open to general shooting and is also used for various 3D shooting programs.
Jakes 3D Range
The Jakes 3D Range is a small outdoor 3D target range located adjacent to the building. The range was designed to offer families and youth a safe and inviting target and 3D range for special events and recreational shooting.
The American Range is an open field consisting of a concrete shooting line and 18 targets consisting of meters and yardage ranges to 70 yards/meters. The large field targets are movable for various programs. An outdoor restroom is located adjacent to the target field. The target range also supports a new parking area for convenience. Just behind the shooting line is a two acre area for spectators during large events such as the State Games of America hosted in 2015.
The Education Center is led by Level 4 archery coach Jan Robertson. Under Jan is a Level 3 coach and several Level 2 coaches, all working together to provide excellence in archery education in Nebraska.
The Outdoor Education Center opened its ranges in the summer of 2014. Since then, over 12,000 people have come through the facility. The facility is within five minutes of Interstate I-80 and several major hotels. The Lincoln Airport is within 10 minutes. The facility is located in Boosalis Park in Lincoln.
